Generating documents using Box Doc Gen
Generate regulatory and compliance documents in Box from a PDF template, using data from your internal systems or responses collected through Box Forms. To generate documents from a PDF template, follow these steps:- Author your Box Doc Gen template. Box Doc Gen assumes your PDF template is a fillable PDF form that is already tagged and labeled with overlay fields, such as an income declaration form, revenue form, or tax form.
- If your PDF template is not a fillable PDF form, use a PDF editor to tag and label the fields. Popular tools include Adobe Acrobat Pro, Apryse, and Sejda.
- Add the template to Box in one of the following ways:
- Upload the template to your preferred folder, select the ellipsis icon (…), and then select Mark as Doc Gen template.
- Upload the template directly in Box Doc Gen: select Automate in the left sidebar, and then, on the Doc Gen tab, select New > Doc Gen Template.
- Generate the document using the Box Doc Gen API, Box Relay workflows, or the Generate document UI.
PDF templates are not supported in the Box for Salesforce app.
