Box Doc Gen can dynamically fill and generate regulatory or compliance documents from a PDF template, such as income declaration forms, revenue forms, and tax forms.

Generating documents using Box Doc Gen

Generate regulatory and compliance documents in Box from a PDF template, using data from your internal systems or responses collected through Box Forms. To generate documents from a PDF template, follow these steps:
  1. Author your Box Doc Gen template. Box Doc Gen assumes your PDF template is a fillable PDF form that is already tagged and labeled with overlay fields, such as an income declaration form, revenue form, or tax form.
    • If your PDF template is not a fillable PDF form, use a PDF editor to tag and label the fields. Popular tools include Adobe Acrobat Pro, Apryse, and Sejda.
  2. Add the template to Box in one of the following ways:
    • Upload the template to your preferred folder, select the ellipsis icon (…), and then select Mark as Doc Gen template.
    • Upload the template directly in Box Doc Gen: select Automate in the left sidebar, and then, on the Doc Gen tab, select New > Doc Gen Template.
  3. Generate the document using the Box Doc Gen API, Box Relay workflows, or the Generate document UI.
PDF templates are not supported in the Box for Salesforce app.
