Admins and co-admins with the permission to Edit Archives and users’ content , can permanently delete files and folders directly from the archive. Deleted content is removed immediately and does not move to Trash. Once deleted, the content cannot be recovered. All deletions are enforced in accordance with existing Box Governance policies, including retention and legal hold requirements.

Delete archived content

  1. Go to the Admin Console, then click Content.
  2. In the Content Manager tab, click Archives, then click an archive’s name.
  3. Hover over a file or folder, then click the Trash icon.
  4. In the confirmation window, click Delete.
This permanently deletes the selected content and cannot be undone. Items retained by Governance policies cannot be deleted.
