Box Doc Split breaks a multi-page PDF stored in Box into smaller sub-documents and saves the results to a Box folder. Use Box Doc Split when you need to:
  • Break a multi-page PDF into page ranges you define yourself with a manual split
  • Have Box group pages based on natural language instructions with a smart split
Box Doc Split is available through the Box API only. To split documents, work with your development team or see Box Doc Split in the Box Developer Documentation.
Before you split documents, an admin must enable the required settings. See Enabling Box Doc Split.

Box Doc Split suits any process where a single PDF arrives as a bundle that has to be separated before anyone can act on it.

How it works

Splitting a document follows the same sequence regardless of the split type you choose:
  1. Identify the source PDF in Box.
  2. Choose a destination folder. You need write access to this folder.
  3. Select the manual or smart split type.
  4. Run Box Doc Split through the Box API.
  5. Review the split documents in the destination folder.

Split types

Box Doc Split supports 2 split types. The type you choose determines what you supply along with the source PDF.
Use a manual split when you already know the page numbers, because the results are the same every time. Use a smart split when the boundaries are easier to describe than to calculate.
