# Managing Content with Box for Android

The Box for Android mobile application gives you the power and simplicity of Box on any Android device. Create, view, edit, preview, search, and share content, all on the go.

## **More Options** menu

The **More Options** menu includes:

* **Search Document**
* **Outline View**
* **Thumbnails View**
* **Folder Gallery View**
* **Make Available Offline**
* **File Information**
* **Rename this File**
* **Move or Copy**
* **Open with…**
* **View Containing Folder**
* **Print**
* **Delete**

Depending on your permissions level, Admin Settings, and file type, some options can be unavailable.

## Adding files and folders

### Add files from your Android device to Box

1. Navigate to the folder where you want to add your files. If you want to create a new folder or add files to the root level of your account, stay on the**Files** screen.
2. Tap the plus icon.
3. Choose how you would like to add files.
   1. **New Folder:** Create a new folder at the root level of your account or within the folder you're viewing.
   2. **New Document:** Create a new Microsoft Office Document or text file.
   3. **Upload Content:** Upload media (photo, video, documents) from your device's media library as well as other local document storage apps.
   4. **Capture Media:** Use your device's camera to take a photo or video and upload it directly to Box.
   5. **New Box Note:** Create a new Box Note.

When you use your device to upload or download files, Box:

* Queues uploads and downloads of files while your device is offline.
* Automatically resumes uploads and downloads of files on your device after a network disconnection.
* Never loses progress of large uploads and downloads in the event of a disconnection.
* Enables you to manually retry failed uploads and downloads of files from your device's progress screen.

## Moving and copying files and folders

### Single item

1. Navigate to the file/folder that you would like to move or copy.
2. Tap the **ellipsis** (**...**) next to the file or folder name to open the **More Options** menu.
3. Select **Copy/Move**.
4. Select a destination folder.
5. Tap **Copy Here** to copy the file/folder or **Move Here** to move the file/folder.

Alternatively, you can perform these actions after previewing an item. Go to [Box for Android Preview](/en/box-mobile/box-for-android/box-for-android-preview) for more information.

### Multiple items

1. Navigate to the**Files** page, **Browse** option, or the specific files/folders that you would like to move or copy.
   * **Files** page:
     1. Select the items you'd like to move or copy by long-pressing (press and hold) on an item, then tap the checkbox of additional items to select them as well, or
     2. Tap the **Select** option to choose multiple or all files to move, copy, or delete them.
   * **Browse** option: Choose the **Select** option to choose multiple or all files to move, copy, or delete them.
2. Tap the **Copy/Move** icon.
3. Select a destination folder.
4. Tap **Copy Here** to copy the files/folders or **Move Here** to move the files/folders.

## Making file available offline

You can save files and folders from Box to access them when your phone is not connected to a network (data or WiFi). You can access all files saved for offline access by tapping the **Offline** tab in the Box app.

  Box Notes and Box Canvas cannot be saved for offline use.

### Making a single file available for offline use

1. Locate the file or folder you'd like to save for offline access.
2. Preview the file or folder.
3. Tap the ellipsis (**...**) to open the **More Options** menu.
4. Tap **Make available offline.**
   1. A message **Making available offline** appears on your screen during the process.
   2. A message **Available offline** appears on your screen. The file is now marked with an underlined checkmark icon.

  **Note**
  If you do not have sufficient storage space on your device, you will not be able to save the content for offline use.

### Removing an item from the offline view

1. Tap on the ellipsis to open the **More Options** menu.
2. Tap **Remove from offline**.
   1. A message **Removing from offline** appears on your screen during the process.
   2. A message **Removed from offline** appears on your screen. The file is no longer marked with the underlined checkmark icon.

### Making multiple files available for offline use

1. Locate the files or folders you'd like to save for offline access.
2. Select the items by long-pressing (press and hold) on an item, then tap the checkbox next to additional items to select them as well.
3. Once you have selected the appropriate items, tap the **ellipsis** (**...**) to open the **More Options** menu.
4. Tap **Make available offline**.

  **Note**
  When you make a folder available offline and then move a file into that folder, the file downloads when you next launch the app. To see the file listed as being available offline, go to the offline tab and tap to update the marked-for-offline folder.

## Deleting files and folders

### Single item

1. Navigate to the file/folder that you would like to delete.
2. Tap the ellipsis (**...**) next to the file name to open the **More Options** menu.
3. Select **Delete**.

Alternatively, you can delete an item after previewing it. See [Preview](/en/box-mobile/box-for-android/box-for-android-preview) for more information.

### Multiple items

1. Navigate to the files/folders that you would like to delete.
2. Select the items you'd like to delete by long-pressing (press and hold) on an item, then tap the **checkbox** next to additional items to select them as well.
3. Once you have selected the appropriate items, tap the **ellipsis** (**...**).
4. Tap **Delete**.

  **Important**
  Before deleting a file, check if you have the trash functionality. If it’s enabled by the Admin, you can restore your deleted files. Admin can set up a specific period after which the trash is deleted, for example 30 days. If the trash functionality is not available on your account, your files will be deleted permanently.
  The trash functionality is not available on mobile. Go to the web app to use it.

## Recents

The **Recents** section gives you quick access to your recently-viewed files. This includes files recently accessed on other devices or browsers. The following files appear in this section:

* Actively-previewed files.
* Files opened from a shared link.
* The last 100 files that you viewed.

**To access the Recent section:**

1. Tap **Browse** in the tab bar.
2. Tap **Recents**.

Tap the filter icon <InlineImage src="/images/box-mobile/filter-button-android.png" alt="filter-button-android" /> to filter the recents list by files shared with you.

## Favorites

This section allows you to quickly access files/folders that you have marked as favorites.

To mark an item as a favorite:

1. Tap the ellipsis next to the item's name.
2. Tap **Collections**.
3. Select the **Favorites** check box.
4. Tap **Done**.

To access your Favorites:

1. Tap **Collections** in the tab bar.
2. Tap **Favorites**.

  Box Notes can’t be marked for offline use in the mobile app at the moment.

## Classification labels

If your enterprise uses Box Shield and you view or preview a file or folder, Box displays a label showing the content's security classification.
